Emmy Awards 2020: See Full List Of WinnersTelevision industry’s shiniest night of the year – Primetime Emmy Awards – has taken place this year on Sunday, September 20 but which a much different approach, given the coronavirus pandemic the world is still battling.

The event was hosted virtually by the 2012 and 2016 host, Jimmy Kimmel mostly hiccup-free live from Staples Center in Los Angeles, US with live feeds giving the spontaneous reactions of winners from wherever they were in the world.

The biggest story of the night came courtesy Pop TV’s riches-to-rags comedy Schitt’s Creek, which had 15 nominations.

Stars Dan Levy, Eugene Levy, Catherine O’Hara, and Annie Murphy all triumphed in their acting categories — becoming the first show to ever pull off that feat — while Dan added to his thoroughly impressive night by winning in the writing and directing categories as well.

To top off their run, Schitt’s Creek claimed the Outstanding Comedy Series award, making it an unprecedented seven trophies in a row. With two wins at the Creative Arts Emmys which held on September 14 the series set a new record for most Emmys wins by a comedy series in a single season, with nine.

HBO also held its own trophy parade. First, dystopic superhero drama Watchmen — which entered the night with a series-leading whopping 26 nominations (and 7 wins at the Creative Arts Emmys) — nabbed four more awards, including Outstanding Limited Series, and acting trophies for Regina King and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II.

Also, armed with 18 nominations (and three wins at the Creative Arts Emmys), Succession claimed four more awards, including Outstanding Drama Series, Lead Actor for Jeremy Strong, and writing and directing.

Zendaya (Euphoria) also added to the network’s trophy coffers by edging out Jennifer Aniston, Jodie Comer, Olivia Colman, Sandra Oh and Laura Linney in the Lead Actress in a Drama category.

Mark Ruffalo fans were ecstatic to see him win best lead actor in a limited series for ‘I Know This Much Is True’.
