Just In: NCDC Confirms 189 New Cases As Total COVID-19 Caseload Surpasses 57,000
Total coronavirus caseload in Nigeria has exceeded 57,000 after Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) recorded 189 new cases.
The new toll comes 8 days after the country’s total coronavirus surpassed the 56,000 threshold.

In the centre’s latest data posted on Twitter on Saturday, September 19 there are now;

On Friday, Nigeria’s total COVID-19 toll surpassed to 56,956 with 48,305 recoveries and 1,094 casualties across the country.
However, with the new toll, there are now 57,145 total cases, 48,431 recoveries and 1,095 fatalities nationwide.
Also, NCDC in its latest situation report has revealed that overall samples tested nationwide have increased from 472,191 to 476,778 as at September 18.
Meanwhile, Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwoolu has approved the full reopening of worship centres in the state as recorded of COVID-19 cases decline.
Sanwo-Olu announced the approval during a briefing in Lagos on Saturday, saying that mosques can hold their prayers five times daily while churches can also commence weekly services.
He, however, warned that the safety protocols released by the government must be strictly adhered to.
Worship centres in the state had been shut since March as part of measures to contain the spread of COVID-19.
The governor, however, on Friday, August 7 allowed mosques and churches to commence their Friday and Sunday services only.
