Luis Suarez Agrees Terms With Atletico Madrid Ahead Of Barca Exit
Barcelona striker Luis Suarez has agreed personal terms with Atletico Madrid as the end of his contract with the Spanish club nears.
New Barca boss, Ronald Koeman has made it clear to Suarez he does not him as a first-team regular, as he looks to usher in fresh blood and is keen to bring in compatriot Memphis Depay from Lyon.
Suarez, 33, who has one year to run on his Barcelona contract, agreed a deal with the club to cut it short, reports said.
The player is one of the highest-paid players at Camp Nou – earning around £400,000-a-week – but Barca are looking to ship his enormous salary off their wage bill if he will not be playing.
The Uruguayan had been heavily linked with a move to Juventus, even flying to Italy to get an Italian passport, but his preference has been to remain in Spain and that now looks increasingly likely.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Suarez has now reached an agreement on personal terms with Atletico and is very keen to work with coach Diego Simeone.
He has been offered a two-year contract while he has been in constant contact with Atletico CEO, Miguel Angel Gil Marin, who has convinced him that they believe in his capability.
So Suarez is about to leave Camp Nou? He will surely be missed! What a Fantastic player
