Nigerians React As Multichoice Reveals BBNaija 2020 Got Over 900million Votes, The Highest Ever Recorded In Show’s History
Organizers of the Big Brother Naija season 5 ‘Lockdown’ edition have revealed that the just-concluded reality TV show got over 900 million votes in the three months it aired.
John Ugbe, the Managing Director of MultiChoice Nigeria, parent production company of the BBN franchise, made this known on Wednesday during the live presentation of 85 million worth of prize to Laycon, who emerged winner of this year’s show.

According to him, this year’s edition, which ran for three months, recorded the highest votes ever in the history of the show as it attracted more viewers and voters.
Ugbe explained that the show recorded 900 million votes (inclusive of online voting) from the different voting platforms, adding that the cost of producing the show was N3.5bn.
The number of total votes amassed for the show has however sparked varying reactions from many Nigerians on social media, some of who believe the programme received more than it awarded the winner.
Laycon received N30 million cash prize and other gifts from various sponsors, all worth N85 million.

In my opinion 30million naira for the BBN finalist is too small. Over 900million votes…. they should increase the money as from next year. How long would this 30million go in today’s Nigeria?

If we replicate what’s happening in BBNaija in SPORTS, we’d get back to being the giant of Africa.

Hope @inecnigeria, @NGRSenate and @OvieOmoAgege can see how to get Millennials and Gen-Z involved and why Electoral Reforms Bill must be passed on time for such implementation.
