This is followed by Lagos State University (LASU) in 2nd place and the University of Lagos (UNILAG) occupying the 3rd position nationally while sitting at 548th and 703rd global spot respectively.
Covenant University, Ota, Ogun State however dropped from number one position to fourth best in the country, but retained its place as the foremost private university in Nigeria. On global ranking, it occupies 840th spot.
University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), Enugu state and Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) Ile-Ife, Osun state, occupied the 5th (1,323rd) and 6th (1,333rd) both nationally and globally.
The new feat which LASU has achieved follows a consistent and meteoric rise in the local and international recognition of the University in the last five years of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Olanrewaju Adigun Fagbohun-led administration.
According to many Nigerians who celebrated the achievement, the new record is thanks to the entrenchment of academic excellence, a culture of cutting edge research and enhanced community service through the Vice Chancellor’s administration.
