EndSARS: Runtown, Falz Lead Protest In LagosPopular musicians, Runtown and Falz have on Thursday begun their peaceful protest against the infamous division of the Nigerian Police Force, Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) as scheduled.

It would be recalled that Naira Marley and Runtown had on Sunday separately announced that they would individually lead the protest on Tuesday and Thursday respectively.

Runtown said;

THIS HAS GONE LONG ENOUGH AND NOW WE MUST TAKE ACTION! I’LL BE LEADING A PROTEST TO #ENDSARS ON THURSDAY, OCTOBER 8TH 2020. THEY MUST LISTEN TO US, THEY MUST MAKE/EFFECT REAL AND VISIBLE CHANGES! EMPTY PROMISES WON’T WORK THIS TIME!!!

However, after much persuasion from the Federal Government and police force, Naira Marley canceled the Tuesday protest, giving the government one-week ultimatum to effect some changes in the operation of SARS and other security units.

Nevertheless, Runtown gave a reassurance on Tuesday that the protest would go on as scheduled.

Falz also announced that he would participating in the peaceful protest alongside Runtown and other Nigerians.

According to the schedule for the ongoing protest, there would be a walk from Lekki toll gate opposite Oriental Hotel to Onikan, Lagos.

In an Instagram live chat on Thursday morning, Falz, son of human rights activist, Femi Falana, said on his way to the protest venue;

No backing down. We move. The police are already there, waiting for us but we are not here to cause trouble. It is a peaceful protest. Coming through.

The two singers, alongside other Nigerians and popular social media influencers as at 10am convened at the Lekki toll gate, with banners having inscriptions that speaks against SARS officials.

As at the time of filing this report, the two singers alongside other Nigerians have begun marching the streets of Lagos chanting their demand to #EndSARS.

They will be matching to the office of the Assistant Inspector General of Police at Onikan to tender a petition on the disbandment of the unit division.
