Nigerians Express Anger As Google Lists Agbani Darego As ‘Ugliest Miss World Ever’Many Nigerians have expressed anger on social media following the discovery that Nigerian beauty Queen, Agbani Darego is listed on Google as the ‘ugliest Miss World’ winner.

Agbani Darego made history in 2001 when she became the first black woman to be crowned Miss World in a very captivating fashion.

She was also a contestant at Miss Universe, and became the first and only Nigerian to place among the top 10 semi-finalists.

Darego‘s victory as Miss World was widely welcomed in the country, and her one-year tenure included goodwill trips and scheduled appearances on behalf of the pageant, and a national honour of Member of the Order of the Federal Republic (MFR).

Therefore, Google listing her as ‘ugliest Miss World’ came as a rude shock to many Nigerians since it was discovered on Friday.

The Google listing was first noticed by a Twitter user with the handle, @oluremi_x, as she said;

I find it interesting that the results to “Who is the most beautiful Miss World” on Google shows links to various rankings. But “Who is the ugliest Miss world” gives you Agbani Darego’s profile, full stop.

MDB confirmed the Twitter user’s statement by also Googling ‘Who is the ugliest Miss World’, which produced a pictural image of Agbani Darego and also displayed more details about her, which partly reads;

Chief Agbani Darego, MFR (born Agbani Darego, 22 December 1982) is a Nigerian model and beauty queen who was crowned Miss World in 2001. She was the first indigenous African to win Miss World.

Many Nigerians have since taken to social media to express their displeasure at the development.

Some believe it is a racist action that should be looked into and corrected, while others claim it’s just robotic algorithms which is beyond Google’s power.
