No Record Of COVID-19 Related In 6 Days As NCDC Announces 151 New CasesNigeria has recorded no COVID-19-related death in six days, it emerged on Friday, October 9.

Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) made this known on its official Twitter handle on Friday while announcing 151 new infections.

On October 2, Nigeria had 1,112 deaths, then this figure increased to 1,113 on October 3, a toll which has remained the same till now.

The centre stated that the new cases were recorded in Lagos-71, Ogun-26, Kaduna-17, Osun-10, Oyo-8, FCT-6, Rivers-6, Plateau-5, Akwa Ibom-1 and Ekiti-1.

It would be recalled that on Thursday, the country recorded 59,841 confirmed cases with 51,551 cases discharged and 1,113 deaths.

The newly recorded toll now brings total cases to 59,992 infections, 51,614 discharged and 1,113 fatalities across the country.

In addition, overall samples tested nationwide, have increased from 543,415 to 545,364, according to NCDC‘s October 8 situation report.

In other news, Presidential Task Force (PTF) on coronavirus pandemic has warned that voters without face masks will not be allowed to exercise their franchise in Ondo state governorship election tomorrow, October 10.

The National Coordinator of the PTF, Dr. Sani Aliyu, disclosed this on Thursday during the task force’s media briefing in Abuja.

He said voters, candidates and officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) would be required to follow the anti-COVID-19 guidelines put in place for elections.

Aliyu noted that the country could not afford losing the gains made in the national response efforts during the election.

He said the process would be protected from the spread of the virus, adding that Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) would be provided for electoral officers.

The PTF coordinator noted that the materials to be used and the voting environment would be disinfected.
