Fast-rising Kenyan Comedienne, Elsa Majimbo has won the 2020 E! People’s Choice Awards under ‘African Social Star’ category.
Majimbo was nominated alongside Nigerian vlogger Dimma Umeh, South Africa’s Sho Madjozi, Thuso Mbedu, Wian, Karl Kugelmann, and Zozi Tunzi as well as Ghanaian actress Lydia Forson.
The 19-year-old comedian shared the news on her social media platforms on Monday morning, thanking her fans for supporting her to bag the prestigious and highly competitive international award.

Majimbo shot into the limelight during COVID-19 lockdown that was imposed in African countries and other parts of the world with short, relaxed but funny monologues.
The journalism student went viral in March after posting hilarious clips regarding the restrictions meant to contain the pandemic that was threatening to paralyze the whole world.
Majimbo is now known as the crisp-eating, straight-talking Kenyan comedian whose takes pride in expressing herself from her bedroom in natural and laidback look, effortlessly making the world laugh.
Though many has counted 2020 as a loss due to the various sad happenings, Majimbo is definitely counting her blessing that came in disguise as she recently said;
This year has been a whirlwind of discomfort and confusion for everybody, but for me it’s also brought with it a great lesson, that sometimes even the greatest obstacles in our path can be opportunities in disguise.
In a past interview on CNN news broadcast Anderson Cooper 360°, Elsa revealed that she started the short videos out of boredom.
She stated;
It actually started out of pure boredom due to the lockdown. Then people started messaging me and telling me how much they enjoyed and related to my stories. That’s when I realised that I was on to something.
Many fans around the world including Nigerians have now congratulated Majimbo for her new win.
It is important to note that, the social media sensation was a strong advocate of the #EndSARS protests that recently rocked Nigerians. Using her social media platforms, she spoke up against police brutality and extra-judicial killings in Nigeria.
