David Adeleke, award-winning artiste better known as Davido, has finally dropped his much-awaited album, ‘A Better Time’, after teasing fans with various snippets.

The music star took to his social media page in the early hours of Friday to release the 17-track project to his fans and few hours after it dropped, they already have their favourite track(s).

Despite the turbulent times, Davido managed to remain both hopeful and optimistic and the 27-year-old Afrobeats star demonstrated this in his third studio album, which we believe is appropriately titled, because the world definitely needs a better time.

The 17-track project—the follow-up to 2019’s A Good Time—includes the already released “Fem“, which Nigerians at some point during the nationwide #EndSARS protest, adopted it as an anthem.

There are guest appearances by U.S. and African artists, which include heavy hit makers like Lil Baby, Nicki Minaj, Young Thug, Nas, Chris Brown, Mugeez, Tiwa Savage, Sho Madjozi and CKay. Others enlisted for the album are, Hit-Boy, Bella Shmurda, Sauti Sol and Mayorkun.

The singer earlier scheduled the project’s release for July but failed to meet the deadline and consequently announced a new date.

Tracks in the new project include ‘Fem’, ‘Jowo’, ‘Something fishy’, ‘Heaven’, ‘Very Special’, ‘Holy Ground’, ‘The Best’, ‘Shopping Spree’ and ‘Sunlight’.

Others include ‘Tanana’, ‘Mebe’, ‘La La’, ‘So Crazy’, ‘Birthday Cake’, ‘I Got a Friend’, ‘Fade’ and ‘On My Way’.

The project comes against the backdrop of the success recorded by A Good Time (2019), Omo Baba Olowo (2012) and Son of Mercy EP (2016).

Davido on Wednesday described the album as his own way of inspiring hope amid the numerous challenges that have been confronting people since the dawn of 2020.

He expressed;

This year we’ve been through crazy times. And through it all, we’ve all had to look inwards to find hopes of better times ahead. I found a few. In human and creative form. I’m so glad I can finally share them with you.

With strings of awards and honourary mentions, Davido has established himself as one of the leading names in the music industry in Nigeria.

He recently declared himself as the “biggest artiste in Nigeria” during an interview, amid rumoured rivalry with Wizkid.
