Former FIRS Chairman, Tunde Fowler, In EFCC’s Custody Over Alleged FraudBabatunde Fowler, former chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), has honored a summon by Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over alleged fraud.

Fowler, a long-time ally of the national leader of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, honored the invitation on Monday morning, November 2.

The EFCC spokesperson, Wilson Uwujaren, confirmed this to PremiumTimes, saying;

He was invited to the commission and he responded today at our zonal office in Lagos.

Though it is said that this is over an ongoing investigation involving Alpha Beta Consulting, a tax firm, Mr Uwujaren did not state the reason for Fowler’s summons.

Fowler, who earlier served as the first Lagos State Internal Revenue Service (LIRS) chairman for eight years, was relieved off his job December last year as the FIRS boss.

President Muhammadu Buhari had queried him over insufficient tax collection since 2015, replacing him with Muhammad Nami, a tax consultant, as the new chairman of the tax agency.
