Nigerians Blast CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele, Threaten Fresh Protest Over Plans To Freeze 20 Bank Accounts Linked To #EndSARS Protests
Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele has come under heavy censure over plans to ‘illegally’ freeze 20 bank accounts linked to #EndSARS protests.
On Friday, Justice Ahmed Mohammed granted CBN’s request to freeze the bank accounts, a request which was filed on October 20.

During the protest against police brutality and extra-judicial killings which lasted for two weeks, many Nigerians and individuals around the world donated towards funding the needs of the movement.
The funds were used to pay bill of protesters arrested, provided legal and medical aids as well as welfare services for protesters in different parts of the country. Some personal and business accounts were used in receiving and disbursing funds.

The court order has now directed head offices of to freeze 20 of those accounts connected to #EndSARS protests.
It directed the banks to freeze all transactions on the 20 accounts on the list annexed to the CBN’s application as Exhibit A and all other bank accounts of the defendants/respondents for a period of 180 days pending the outcome of investigation and inquiry being conducted by the Central Bank of Nigeria.
However, the development has been widely condemned by many Nigerians, calling out Governor Godwin Emefiele for allegedly being used as a pawn by the Federal Government to attack protesters.
This comes few days after Immigration Service seized the traveling passport of one of #EndSARS protest frontliners, Modupe ‘Moe’ Odele and prevented from leaving the country for a vacation.

It’s so difficult for Mr Godwin Emefiele to block Boko haram sponsor’s bank accounts , now very easy to block #EndSARS bank accounts.
Demon in disguise.

Just so we are clear, Mr Godwin Emefiele finds it hard to freeze the accounts of politicians who have stolen billions but in a few weeks can freeze the accounts of youth who protest and have spoken out against injustice. 🙂 #EndSARS ASUU #CitationTheMovie pic.twitter.com/LZo7PBOePr

Freezing the accounts of organisers of s peaceful protest is ECONIMIC TERRORISM by the CBN. Does Godwin Emefiele sanction the brutality of SARS?#EndSARS

Please don’t forget that this is the same Godwin Emefiele of CBN who was hosting zoom meetings with #EndSARS comrades weeks ago.
Today he is getting court order to freeze people’s account.
Don’t trust this government, boycott the nonsense judicial investigative panel.

Godwin Emefiele is the real definition of ‘a house Nigger’. Always ready to do the bidding of Master(s) with no consideration of his integrity whatsoever. Pls @cenbank freeze inflation not the accounts of #EndSARS protesters. pic.twitter.com/GdVTa7bfIL

So Godwin Emefiele will rather retain his seat with the Cabals than to perform his duties by the dictates of the constitution. Thank God this regime won’t last forever. #EndSARS

Godwin Emefiele is just 59 years, he still has over 20 years of life to answer for his betrayal of Nigerian Youths who are no longer politically docile and who are now out to claim what’s rightfully their’s.

After Godwin Emefiele’s leaked voice notes, dude became a lap dog and would bite to uphold tyranny.
He accentuates his idiocy at the snap of one’s fingers
I don’t blame him..
I blame the zero-will power he has to stand on the side of truth because they’ve got his nudes.— President One.acre|-| Dadiyata Disappeared (@NekkaSmith) November 7, 2020
Mr Godwin Emefiele, the only message you are passing across is that it’s not safe for us to keep our money in Nigerian banks, for it can be used against us the moment you don’t approve of us standing up for our fundamental human rights.
This is so troubling and absolutely wrong.— Feminist (@bakaresimbiat) November 7, 2020
If there is any other time to activate the energy to hold government to account in Nigeria, it should be now.
Godwin Emefiele is playing a script that would consume all of us if we don’t “Soro Soke” now.
It could be Rinu, Pamilerin & co. today, your could be next #EndSARS

I just read that a court has granted CBN’s request to freeze #EndSARS protesters.
Justice Ahmed Mohamed is the judge on that, and Godwin Emefiele is the obvious a puppet for the federal government.
This is not DEMOCRACY, if they (older ones) had it this way, will they be alive?

If only those freezing the accounts of #endSARs advocates were that quick in freezing the accounts of fraudsters and public-office thieves…

The action of Mr Godwin Emefiele of blocking the account of #EndSARS protesters is emblematic of a govt that doesn’t like criticism and that victimises its citizens. It is unfortunate that the CBN has been turned into a political tool for APC

Godwin Emefiele is just another pawn on the chess board, so is Yusuf Burutai, Ibrahim Tanko & the likes of them. The real issue is that Nigeria operates a system of govt that automatically imposes subservience on you the moment you’re introduced to the fold.
