Operation Burst: Soldiers Who Flogged Lady, Shaved Hair Of Young Men Arrested – Oyo Sport Commissioner, Seun Fakorede
Oyo State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Seun Fakorede, has said the Nigerian Army has arrested soldiers involved in flogging a lady for ‘indecent dressing’ and shaving hair of some youths for ‘wearing improper hairstyles’.
He made this known in a series of tweets on Monday following backlash over the action of the soldiers who were caught on camera unleashing punishment on the civilians.
A soldier was filmed flogging a lady while another cut the hair of some young men in the area over what they term ‘indecent‘ dressing. They also allegedly extorting then of money.
Eyewitnesses alleged that residents of the area now live in fear following the “extreme actions” of the soldiers who are members of Operation Burst.
The team was deployed by Governor of Oyo state, Seyi Makinde on October 20 to various hotspots in the metropolis, to address unrest by enforcing curfew in some parts of the state and restore normalcy.
Addressing the soldiers’ extremities, Fakorede assured Oyo residents to go about their daily business and activities without fear, as they have been arrested.
He tweeted;

Fakorede stated;

The Commissioner stressed;
