Sia To Perform At 2020 ARIA Awards For The First Time In A Decade
Australian pop queen, Sia has officially joined the lineup of artists that will be performing in this year’s virtual Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) Awards.
The 44-year-old, whose real name is Sia Furler, will perform live from Los Angeles on Saturday, November 25, after 10 years of being off ARIA Awards stage.
Her last appearance at the ARIAs was in 2010, where she performed ‘Clap Your Hands’ and took home three awards.
Sia will likely perform a rendition of her latest hit single Together, which features on the soundtrack for upcoming musical film ‘Music’.
At the 2020 ceremony, she’s up for two awards – ‘Best Pop Release’ and ‘Best Female Artist’, both for her recent song ‘Together’.
ARIA CEO, Dan Rosen on Thursday said that he is thrilled to welcome the Grammy nominee back to the ARIAs.
He stated;
She is one of Australia’s greatest ever musical exports and we cannot wait to see the incredible performance she will deliver for this year’s ARIAs.
Despite having ten ARIA awards and a further 21 nominations to her name, Sia’s relationship with the awards has been embattled.
In 2014, after she experienced global success with her album ‘1000 Forms Of Fear’ and its lead single ‘Chandelier’, she called out the ceremony after they only aired one out of four acceptance speeches she gave at that year’s awards.
She had won ‘Best Female Artist’, ‘Best Video’, ‘Best Pop Release’ and ‘Best Album’ in 2014, but did not show up at the ceremony. The awards were accepted on her behalf.
Now, Sia will join confirmed performers Tame Impala, Lime Cordiale, Sampa The Great, Amy Shark and Archie Roach, who will be inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame.
