Many cars have been destroyed after a petroleum tanker went up in flames on Kara Bridge, Lagos-Ibadan expressway in the early hours of Saturday, November 7.
According to reports, the incident occurred at about 1 a.m. on Saturday with many motorists travelling in and out of Lagos State trapped in the inferno.
Lagos State Emergency Management Authority, LASEMA in a statement, however said they were chased away by hoodlums when they arrived at bridge to help put out the fire.
Giving a report in a Twitter thread, the agency wrote;

The agency responded to the incident at 0105hrs this morning according to the State emergency response plan. The joint team (agency AND LAGOS FIRE SERVICE) was waylaid on arrival by a group of miscreants brandishing weapons and was forced to seek extra police cover from the Isheri Police Station.

LASEMA expressed that the operation commenced with the police protection until the group of assailants grew larger and caused significant damage to their vehicles and threats to life of personnel.
