8 Killed As Bandits Attack Emir Of Kaura Namoda’s Convoy
Gunmen on Thursday night attacked the convoy of Sanusi Muhammad Asha, Emir of Kaura Namoda in Zamfara state, killing eight people on his entourage including policemen, it has emerged.
The Emir narrowly escaped death when the gunmen ambushed his convoy, killing two palace guards, his driver, three policemen and two others along Zaria-Funtua road on his way from Abuja to his home in Kauran Namoda, Zamfara State.
According to Channels TV, the Emir who was in his official vehicle with a Toyota Hilux forming part of the convoy didn’t sustain any injury.
A palace source stated that;
The Emir was in his official vehicle with a Toyota Hilux forming part of the convoy.
He didn’t sustain any injury but we lost eight occupants of the Toyota Hilux including the driver, two palace guards, three police escorts and two traditional title holders, they were all killed by the gunmen.
The Emir is a retired army general before he ascended the throne this year after the demise of his father late Muhammad A’sha.
It was further gathered that the incident which occurred close to midnight made the Emir to spend the night at Funtua police station.
The Kaura Namoda Emirate Council are making arrangements to convey the bodies of those killed for burial.
As at the time of compiling this report, there was no official statement from the palace and the police in Zamfara State.
Breaking: Abducted Kankara Schoolboys Released
The incident took place almost eight days after gunmen abducted over 300 students from Government Science Secondary School, Kankara State, Katsina State, and less than 24 hours after the schoolboys were released.
