Apple has on Tuesday unveiled its AirPods Max over-ear noise-canceling headphones that will launch on December 15 for $549 (N209,169).
The tech company designed AirPods Max with similar features to its $249 in-ear AirPods Pro, but in an over-ear design.

The new AirPods Max may be appealing to customers who didn’t want in-ear headphones, such as the AirPods. They sit over your ears, which may be comfortable for longer periods but offer similar features like support for “Hey Siri” for voice commands, quick pairing to your iPhone and active noise cancellation.
It comes in five colors: silver, green, pink, space gray and sky blue.
According to Apple, AirPods Max feature a 40-mm Apple-designed dynamic driver that provides;
Rich, deep bass, accurate mid-ranges, and crisp, clean high-frequency extension. Each ear cup is equipped with Apple’s H1 chip for computational audio to deliver the highest quality listening experience possible.
Apple also created some new features for the AirPods Max, including a dial at the top of the right ear cup to control volume, phone calls, play, pause and skip. The dial, which the company calls a digital crown inspired by the same feature on its popular Apple Watch, can also activate the Siri voice assistant, as earlier stated.
Other features are; transparency mode, which lets you hear noises around you, such as cars while walking on a busy street, and spatial audio, which makes it sound like audio from movies and TV shows is coming directly from an iPad or iPhone.

The AirPods Max have sensors built into the earcups that allow them to detect when they’re on your head or not. That way, music pauses if you take them off, or lift an earcup to speak to someone.
As usual, Apple catered for the safety of this new AirPods Max as it comes with a little carrying purse with magnets that tell the device to go into an ultra-low power mode to help save battery life when they’re not in use.
Apple promises up to 20 hours of battery life with noise cancellation, which is on a par or even below competitors.

The AirPods Max may just help Apple cater to a higher-end audience, though, it already sells headphones ranging from about $50 through its Beats brand, up to $350 (N133,350).
Apple’s all-new AirPods Max are available to order from the Apple web store now, priced at $549 and will receive a full release on December 15.
