NCDC Confirms 617 New COVID-19 Cases, 225 In Lagos
Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has announced 617 new cases of coronavirus, 128 recoveries and 4 deaths on Saturday, December 12.
The health agency made the announcement via its official twitter handle with the cases detected in 14 states and FCT.
The breakdown of the new cases is as follows; Lagos-225, FCT-181, Kaduna-125, Adamawa-25, Nasarawa-20, Kano-12, Rivers-8, Edo-4, Ekiti-4, Bayelsa-3, Ogun-3, Plateau-3, Akwa Ibom-2, Delta-1 and Sokoto-1.

Our discharges today include 74 community recoveries in Lagos State and 44 community recoveries in Kaduna State managed in line with guidelines.

It would be recalled that on Friday, Nigeria recorded 72,140 coronavirus cases, 65,772 discharged and 1,190 deaths.
With the newly recorded toll, there are now 72,757 total cases, 65,850 discharged and 1,194 fatalities across the country.
Also, Nigeria has so far tested over 800,000 of its 200 million population for the virus.
Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has tested positive for coronavirus on Saturday, December 12.

His test result comes less than 24 hours after one of his close aides tested positive for coronavirus and the Governor went into isolation thereafter, while awaiting his COVID-19 test result.
The result has now shown that Governor Sanwo-Olu has contracted the virus as announced by Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on new media, Gawat Jubril in a tweet on Saturday evening.
Giving further update in a statement on Saturday night, the state health commissioner, Akin Abayomi, said the governor is being treated at home by medical experts in the state.
He stated;
Mr Governor is receiving treatment and is being closely monitored at home by the very experienced State #COVID19 clinical team from IDH Yaba.
Mr Sanwo-Olu is doing well on treatment and rest and we are confident that he will recover quickly and clear the virus.
