Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla Says He’s Yet To Take COVID-19 Vaccine, Gives Reason

Pharmaceutical giant, Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla, has revealed that he is yet to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.

It would be recalled that US Food and Drug Administration last week Friday gave approval for the emergency use of Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine and and vaccination began on Monday, December 14.

Sandra Lindsay, a critical care nurse at Long Island Jewish Medical Center, was administered the vaccine on camera becoming the first in the nation to receive the shot.

Giving a reason for how decision, Bourla Said he hasn’t received the vaccine because he doesn’t want to be seen as jumping the line.

While speaking with CNN’s chief medical correspondent Dr. Sanjay Gupta, he said;

I haven’t taken it yet and we are having an ethical committee dealing with the question of who is getting it.

Bourla noted that US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has agreed that front-line health care workers and nursing home residents and staff should be prioritised.

He expressed;

Given that there are very strict allocation rules that the CDC has voted [on], we are very sensitive not to cut the queue and get vaccinated before.

The CEO however hasn’t ruled out getting the shot soon if it will improve confidence in the vaccine, saying;

People will believe much more [in the safety of the vaccine] if the CEO gets vaccinated.
