Stolen Ogun Assembly Mace Recovered In Lagos
Lagos State Police Command has recovered a mace from Ogun State House of Assembly at Abule Ado area in the state.
On Wednesday, people suspected to be burglars broke into the office of the Speaker of the House, Olakunle Oluomo in the early hours of the day, at the Assembly complex and carted away the symbol of authority.
Ogun State Police Command Spokesperson, Abimbola Oyeyemi, has now said the head of the mace was found yesterday.
Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, confirmed the recovery on Friday in a statement saying;
Lagos Police Command Recovers Ogun State House of Assembly Stolen Mace at Abule Ado area of the state at about 8.30am.
Someone in a moving vehicle, suspected to be Toyota Siena Space Wagon, threw out an object into the nearby bush and the police recovered the object which was later identified to be the Ogun State House of Assembly Mace.
Adejobi said the mace had been handed over to Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Hakeem Odumosu.
Odumosu, according to Adejobi had instructed the Deputy Commissioner of Police, State CID, Yetunde Longe, to liaise with the Ogun State Police Command on the return of the mace to the Assembly.
Lagos CP, however, promised to assist the Ogun State Police Command in the investigation into the incident that led to the recovery of the mace.
