Major General Olu Irefin, General Officer Commanding of Nigerian Army’s 6 Division in Port Harcourt, Rivers state, has reportedly passed away.
The GOC was attending the annual chief of army staff conference in Abuja before he took ill and died from COVID-19 complications, TheCable reports.
Major General Olu Irefin took over the command as GOC 6 Division in July after being deployed from 81 Division, Lagos State where he was also the GOG.
He was among top brass of the army attending annual Chief of Army Staff Annual Conference which began in Abuja on Monday.
The conference has now been cancelled by the army and participants comprising principal staff officers, GOCs, commandant of army schools, commanders of army operations have been asked to go into isolation for 14 days.
