Total COVID-19 Exceeds 71,000 As NCDC Records 675 New Cases – Highest Daily Caseload Since July
Nigeria’s coronavirus infections have surpassed 71,000 after Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) announced 675 new cases – highest daily tally since July – raising fears of a second wave of the pandemic.
The latest figure is the highest since July 1 when 790 cases were recorded.
NNCDC made the announcement via its official twitter handle on Thursday, December 10 with the cases detected in 16 states.
It would be recalled that Nigeria’s COVID-19 surpassed 70,000 on Tuesday, which means between then and Thursday, 1,149 new cases were recorded.

The breakdown of the new cases is as follows; FCT-183, Lagos-128, Kaduna-85, Kwara-57, Katsina-50, Plateau-42, Rivers-39, Kano-33, Ondo-21, Ogun-17, Bauchi-10, Sokoto-5, Edo-2, Ekiti-1, Bayelsa-1 and Delta-1.

It would be recalled that on Wednesday, Nigeria recorded 70, 668 coronavirus cases, 65,242 discharged and 1,184 deaths.
With the newly recorded toll, there are now 71,344 total cases, 65,474 discharged and 1,190 fatalities across the country.
Also, Nigeria has so far tested over 800,000 of its 200 million population for the virus.
