American Singer Trey Songz Arrested For Assaulting Policeman
American singer, Trey Songz, has been arrested for trespassing, resisting arrest and assaulting a police officer on Sunday, January 24.
According to TMZ, Songz is on a 24-hour hold, and will likely be released tomorrow night.
Trey Songz found himself in the middle of a physical altercation with a police officer during American football game between Kansas City Chiefs vs Buffalo Bills.
Fans who witnessed it say the police was out of line. They claim Songz was being taunted by other fans in the stands and asked them to be quiet.
The witnesses also said a police officer allegedly got physical with the rapper without provocation and that the alleged altercation was self-defense on Songz‘ part.
According to a video obtained from Arrowhead Stadium, Songz and the officer were seen in a struggle. The singer throws a punch at the officer’s head and gets him in a headlock, but then the officer pins Songz to a seat.
In the video, fans shouted at the officer, telling him to get off Songz until additional officers arrived. Fans were yelling for the officer to be arrested.
Once backup got there, they were able to separate Songz and the policeman but they put Songz in handcuffs.
The singer is currently in custody, but it’s unclear if he’s being booked for anything or simply detained.
As at the time of filing this report, the singer’s representatives were yet to make any comment.
