It’s A Spiritual Challenge – Former Presidential Aide, Doyin Okupe Reacts To Son’s Gay Status
Former presidential aide, Dr Doyin Okupe, has said his son’s decision to declare himself a homosexual is a spiritual challenge, rather than a physical one.
Okupe said this in a series of tweets while reacting to his son, Bolu’s Instagram photo where he was seen wearing a rainbow boxers while holding a rainbow flag, with the post captioned as, “Yes, I am gay”.
The rainbow flag (also known as the gay pride flag or LGBT pride flag) is a symbol of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) pride and LGBTQ social movements.

Reacting to this few hours later, Doyin, who served as special assistantunder former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan, said;
My attention has been drawn to a publication of my 27yr old son, Bolu okupe, in which he declared publicly that he is Gay.
I gave him that name MOBA OLUWA RIN, ( I WALKED WITH GOD) because he was born at the time I gave my life to Christ.

The former Presidential aide revealed that he has been aware of his son’s new orientation for a while.
Doyin however expressed that as a Christian and an evangelist, he vehemently opposes homosexuality, saying it runs contrary to the avowed precepts of his Christian faith.

He expressed that he sees his son’s sexual orientation as a major spiritual challenge not a physical one.
Doyin expressed that he believes in God and that he is sure the whole saga “will end up in praise to the Almighty Jehovah who I serve day and night.”
For me I look beyond the surface or the physical. Here I see a major spiritual challenge ahead but I know as my God liveth, this whole saga will end up in Praise to the Almighty Jehova who i serve day and night.

He then went ahead to quote a bible passage, Isaiah 59 verse 1, which says; “For it is written: Behold, the hand of the Lord is not shortened that it cannot save, neither is His ear dead that he cannot hear.”
For it is written:
Behold, the hand of the Lord is not shortened that it cannot save, neither is His ear dead that he cannot hear.

Back in 2014, Doyin Okupe vehemently supported Same-Sex Marriage Prohibition Act (SSMPA) signed by former President, Goodluck Jonathan.
The law forbids any cohabitation between same-sex sexual partners and bans any public show of same-sex amorous relationship.
SSMPA imposes a 10-year prison sentence on anyone who registers, operates, or participates in gay clubs, societies, and organizations or supports the activities of such organizations.
The bill states that anyone caught in any act of homosexuality will face a jail term of between 10 to 14 years.
