Lagos State Police Command has on Saturday, January 9 paraded more than 200 persons for violating COVID-19 safety protocols.
It would be recalled that Lagos state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, in preparation for second wave of COVID-19 infection placed a ban on concerts, street parties, and nightclubs.
The directive was given as Nigeria is currently experiencing a second wave of the pandemic causing a drastic increase in numbers of confirmed cases.
In enforcing the directive, a team from the Lagos State Safety Commission have been raiding clubs, sealing buildings and arresting persons in violation of the instruction.

In a similar raid, Lagos state commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, personally led the team of Police officers and men to arrest and seal off some clubs including Lounge 38, Club Victoria on Friday.
Hakeem Odumosu, while parading them on Saturday evening, said;
On Friday, 8th January, 2021, during a night operation, that was coordinated and commanded by the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, the Command pounced on some deviant night clubs where two hundred and thirty seven (237) violators were arrested. The clubs raided included Lounge 38, Bode Thomas Surulere (85 suspects) and Club Victoria’s, VI, (152 suspects) while six (6) were arrested for violating the Federal Government imposed 12 midnight to 4am curfew in the state.
In total, Two hundred and forty three (243) violators were arrested and are being paraded today.
He complained that many Lagosians were disregarding protocols announced to curtail the spread of coronavirus, adding that the attitude would have adverse effects on the state’s health status.
Odumosu reiterated the command’s commitment to enforce COVID-19 rules and the Federal Government’s 12 midnight to 4 am curfew.
He warned club owners to stop flouting government’s directives, warning that they risk prosecution and confiscation of their property.
