Tourist Bus Plunges Into Indian Ocean In KenyaA tourist bus belonging to Pollman’s Tours and Safaris lost control and plunged into Indian Ocean at the Likoni Ferry crossing channel in Kenya on Sunday morning, January 10.

According to KTN News, the bus was embarking on the ferry from the mainland to the island side when the driver missed the ramp.

The driver and the conductor on board were rescued and the bus retrieved from the ocean by officers from the Kenya Ferry Services (KFS) and Kenya Coast Guard.

In a statement, Pollman’s Group Director Of Operations Mohammed Hersi confirmed that the bus did not have any passengers on board having dropped them in Diani on Saturday evening.

Hersi stated;

We would like to thank KFS, Kenya Coast Guard, and numerous members of the public who all came to help.

As a leading tour company safety remains our topmost priority and we are grateful that there were no fatalities.

The Likoni channel which links Mombasa Island and the mainland town of Likoni is used by 350,000 passengers and more than 6,000 vehicles daily.
