Breaking: Gunmen Kidnap Over 300 Schoolgirls In Zamfara
Gunmen have reportedly kidnapped hundreds of schoolgirls from Government Girls Secondary School in Jangebe, Talatu Mafara LGA in Zamfara state on Friday, February 26.
According to BBC Hausa, the terrorists struck at midnight in the Government Secondary School and kidnapped about 300 schoolgirls.
Confirming the incident, the state commissioner for information, Hon. Suleiman Tunau Anka said the gunmen stormed the school around 1 a.m today and abducted the students.
The father of one of the students and a teacher at the school when the students were abducted also confirmed the incident.
One of the eyewitnesses said more than 300 girls were abducted as a result of the counting of all the remaining students after the students were abducted.
Another eyewitness stated that vigilantes exchanged gunfire with the terrorists and are said to be on their heels to rescue the schoolgirls.

The new development comes as efforts are underway to rescue Kagara Secondary School students and their teachers abducted by gunmen in Niger State.
Zamfara State is one of the worst hit states by pirates and kidnappers seeking ransom.
