Cristiano Ronaldo’s Brace Against Crotone Reignites Juventus Title Bid
Cristiano Ronaldo scored two first half goals in Juventus 3-0 victory over Crotone, reigniting their Serie A title bid.
Juventus closed the gap on the table leaders Inter Milan to eight points and second placed AC Milan to four points, the Old Ladies (Juventus) have played a game fewer. A win in their outstanding match will further reduce the gap from the summit of the table.
Old Ladies were under scrutiny after defeat to Napoli which was followed by a defeat in the UEFA Champions league to FC Porto, but the Serie A champions coasted to a comfortable success to move up to third in the table.
The Old Ladies dominated the majority of the first half as expected but had to wait until the 38th minute to break the deadlock, Cristiano Ronaldo nodded in an Alex Sando cross into the back of the net.
The Portuguese attacker doubled his side’s lead before the halftime break, he headed an Aaron Ramsey cross into the back of the net. The braced marks his 27th and 28th goal in all competitions this season.
The five-time Ballon d’or winner has now scored 18 goals in the Serie A this season, leading the scoring charts in the Italian top division.
Ronaldo has also scored against every team currently in Italy’s topflight, Crotone were the last team that Ronaldo failed to score against. He has fired 70 goals since making his move to Turin, Italy from Madrid.
Weston Mckennie added a third goal from close range in the 66th minute, after Crotone failed to clear a corner.
