#GorillaGlueGirl: Tessica Brown Finally Removes Glue From Hair After Free Surgery By Ghanaian-American Doctor, Michael ObengTessica Brown, a woman who went viral after applying Gorilla Glue spray to her hair, is now finally free from the adhesive following a successfully medical procedure.

The 40-year-old woman, who shared her unfortunate predicament on TikTok, underwent a four-hour surgery in Los Angeles where the adhesive was removed, according to TMZ, which was given exclusive access to photos and videos of the surgery.

It had been more than a month after she initially styled her hair in a sleek ponytail using the glue to ‘finish off’.

Prior to the surgery, the mother of five had her ponytail extension cut off at the root leaving the base of her hair, which remained glued down.

The surgery was performed by Ghanaian-American plastic surgeon in Beverly Hills, Dr. Michael Obeng, who offered to do the procedure worth $12,500 for free, TMZ reports.

Dr. Obeng observed no immediate damage to her scalp but told Brown in a video of the procedure that she would experience sensitivity and gave her a dose of a steroid to minimize inflammation.

After the procedure, Brown was captured reaching for her scalp and running her fingers through her hair while expressing relief.

Jesus Christ, I can scratch it,” says Brown in the video. She later joked that she needed her hair done in time for Valentine’s Day.

In an interview with TMZ, Obeng explained that the formula he used to remove the heavy-duty adhesive from Brown’s hair included a medical-grade adhesive remover, acetone, and more natural solutions like aloe vera and olive oil, having first practiced on a dummy head to ensure his formula would work.

Dr. Obeng expressed;

The surgery went well. She had a lot of irritation on the scalp especially the edges of her hair, of her head because of all of the chemicals that she has put in, and the hair was actually very, very tough, very, very matted down, and it would not lift up. She’s very, very lucky that she did not sustain a lot of injury to her scalp.

During the procedure, the mixture was applied to Tessica’s hair using a spray bottle, while Dr. Obeng used medical tweezers and scissors to try and gently pull the matted hair apart, cutting the strands of glue that were holding her tresses together.

The doctor and his team, then ran a comb through the hair to finally remove the glue, before applying a deep conditioning treatment to protect what’s left of the hair.

Remarkably, Dr. Obeng was able to salvage much of Tessica’s hair – although she admitted after the procedure that she wishes she had visited him before asking her sister to chop off her lengthy ponytail in the hopes of removing the glue.

The mother-of-five revealed that she is now planning to get extensions to restore some length to her short locks, however she has been told that she needs to wait at least six weeks before doing so.

Brown’s ordeal has drawn the interest of people online who have stood by for updates and has gone as far as donating to her GoFunMe account, which was set up to pay for her medical bills.

Gorilla Glue’s manufacturers issued a statement of support for Brown following mounting pressure.

It said;

We are very sorry to hear about the unfortunate incident that Miss Brown experienced using our Spray Adhesive on her hair.

We are glad to see in her recent video that Miss Brown has received medical treatment from her local medical facility and wish her the best.

However, it has been learnt that Brown intends to sue the company for using a misleading label on its product.
