Iker Casillas’ Wife Hospitalised After Suffering Tragic Setback in Cancer Battle
Sports journalist and model, Sara Carbonero, who is the wife of former Real Madrid goalkeeper, Iker Casillas, has suffered a setback in her cancer battle.
She underwent surgery in 2019 to remove malignant tumour on one of her ovaries and went through chemotherapy but was readmitted to the hospital on Wednesday.
The news broke when it was found out that she had been taken to a private facility in the city of Pamplona on Wednesday.
Sara was admitted to one of Spain’s best hospital, University City of Navarra Hospital on Friday, just two days after her 37th birthday. It is reported that she is responding to treatments and recovering well.
She revealed sometimes last year that she has been diagnosed with ovarian cancer. The mother of two underwent her surgery at Madrid’s prestigious Ruber International Clinic.
In 2019, she wrote on her Instagram page when she was diagnosed in 2019;
This time it’s my turn, this six-letter word that I still find hard to write. A few days ago, at a check-up, the doctors found a malignant ovarian tumour and I have already had surgery.
Everything went very well, fortunately we have caught it in good time, but I still have a few months of fighting left while I have relevant treatment. I am calm and confident that everything is going to be OK.
I have the support of family and m. friends and a great medical team. I want to ask that from here the media gives me respect and understanding with which you have always treated m, especially in these difficult and delicate times for me and my family.
Casillas married his wife Sara in 2016 and their union is blessed with two children. The ex-Spanish International goalkeeper hung his gloves last year.
