Just In: Omisore, Ex-Osun Deputy Governor, Defects To APC
Iyiola Omisore, one-time Deputy Governor of Osun State, has defected to All Progressives Congress (APC) party.
Omisore defected at his polling Unit, Ward 6 in Ile-Ife, Osun State, after which, he picked the membership card of APC on Monday.
He served as deputy governor from 1999 to 2003 under Adebisi Akande and later as a member of Nigerian senate for Osun-east from 2003 to 2009.
In 2014, Senator Omisore was Peoples Democratic Party’s candidate in 2014 Gubernatorial Election in the state. He was however defeated by the candidate of APC, Rauf Aregbesola.
In 2018, he came third behind Senator Ademola Adeleke of PDP and the eventual winner, Adegboyega Oyetola of APC after the election was declared inconclusive.
Initially, he refused to throw his weight behind either APC or Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He later went into coalition with APC before September 28 rerun election, where Oyetola came out victorious.
