Post-Match Analysis: Calvert-Lewin’s 95th Minute Equaliser For Everton Denies Manchester United A Pivotal Win

Everton’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin has denied Manchester United a win by scoring in the final few seconds of the game at their home tuff, Old Trafford on Saturday, turning up with a 3-3 draw in the highly entertaining clash.

Just days after the 9-0 demolition of Southampton, The Red Devils (Manchester United) looked set to celebrate another victory at Old Trafford.

The hosts, United dominated a first half, thanks to the attacking input of their fullbacks, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Luke Shaw who helped United frontline overload the Everton defence.

United opened the scoring as Marcus Rashford supplied Edison Cavani with wonderful cross which the Uruguay International headed sumptuously into the back of the net from four yards away after brilliantly peeling off the back of Mason Holgate.

It was Cavani’s sixth goal of his debut season in the English Premier League.

United doubled their lead on the stroke of halftime, thanks to a wonderful individual effort from Bruno Fernandes.

The Portuguese midfielder looked to put in a cross into the box but with a yard of space, he pinged a dipping effort into the far corner to double his side’s lead.

The game looked to be out of the hands of the Evertonians, but they pulled a goal back just four minutes into the second half.

David de Gea didn’t take care of a weak cross from Calvert-Lewin and Abdoulaye Doucoure was on hand to poke it into an empty net.

Everton pulled level three minutes later as James Rodriguez rifled in from just inside the box after Doucoure found in space. United were shellshocked as the Colombian’s shot found the back of the net.

Everton’s goalkeeper Robin Olsen who deputised for Jordan Pickford, was at fault moments later when he let Scott McTominay’s weak header trickle into the corner of his post as the midfielder headed a wonderful cross from Luke Shaw.

The last twist to the game came in the 95th minute as Everton levelled again. Every Everton player was United’s half including Olsen as Lucas Digne’s freekick fell into the lap of Calvert-Lewin. The centre forward came out braver than De Gea as he nudged the ball into the back of the net.

Manchester blew their chance to go level on point with their rivals Manchester City, with the later two games fewer.
