Transfer Deadline Day 2021: Manchester United Star Marcus Rojo Set To Exit
Clubs are scrambling to get their deals over the line as the January transfer window shuts for premier league clubs and EFL clubs at 23:00 GMT (12am local time) on February 1.
Boca juniors are in the process of finalising a permanent move for Manchester United defender Marcos Rojo after Manchester United agreed to terminate the contract of the Argentine defender.
His contract ends this summer, but United look set to part ways with him six months early to facilitate his move.
The defender joined the Manchester side 2014 after being signed by then manager Louis van Gaal. The move will bring an end to his six-and-a-half-year association with United. Injuries and loss have overshadowed his stay at Old Trafford.
The 30-year old signed a new contract in 2018, but fell out of favour with United’s manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
The club’s decision to terminate Rojo’s contract comes as no big surprise as he has not featured for United this season in any competition, making one single Premier League start last season. He has started just five Premier League games under the new boss.
Rojo also garnered interest from fellow Premier League clubs Newcastle United and Sheffield United, but he looks set to return to him homeland.
He will be the latest player to leave Manchester United this January Transfer window, joining the likes of Odion Ighalo who left the club after his loan deal expired, while Jesse Lingard and Facundo Pellestri have joined West ham and Alaves on loan respectively.
