Single-Day Count Of COVID-19 Infections Drops To 86 — Lowest Since November 2020Nigeria’s daily count of COVID-19 infections have continued to follow a downward slope with 86 new cases recorded across six states and the federal capital territory (FCT), on Sunday.

The new toll is the lowest in five months as Nigeria recorded 82 cases on November 29, 2020.

The fresh cases were confirmed by Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) in its update for March 21, 2021.

States with new infections are FCT (33), Lagos (28), Ondo (11), Kano (7), Akwa Ibom (3), Rivers (3), and Kaduna (1).

Sunday’s figure is also the lowest reported in the country in the month of March. It also signifies a 23 percent decline from 112 COVID-19 cases recorded on Saturday.

The centre also said that no COVID-19 -related death was registered in the last 24 hours while the country’s death toll stood at 2030.

According to the health agency, 147,899 people have recovered from COVID-19 so far, pushing the country’s recovery rate to over 91 per cent.


NCDC noted that 124 people have recovered from COVID-19, after testing negative to the virus and have also been discharged from different isolation centers across the country on Sunday
.

The centre said the country’s active cases have continued to slowdown for weeks, the current active cases in the country stood at 11,808, according to the data by NCDC via its official website.

NCDC stated that a multi-sectoral national emergency operations centre (EOC), activated at Level 3, had continues to coordinate the national response activities in the country.

Meanwhile, 1,684,305 people have so far been tested for COVID-19 since the first confirmed case of the pandemic was announced on February 27, 2020.
