A 65-year-old widower, Samuel Darisa, has been arrested for allegedly defiling a 10-year-old girl, Bello Memunat Muhammed in Ilorin, Kwara State capital.
The act was allegedly perpetrated at Agba dam area, GRA, Ilorin, Kwara State capital, where the man was employed as a security guard.
The suspect was arrested by operatives from Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) where the man was employed as a security guard following a tip-off by a concerned neighbour.
Parading the suspect to command headquarters in Ilorin on Friday on behalf of the state commandant, Isikilu Makinde, the spokesperson for the command, Babawale Afolabi, said the suspect was arrested after a report from a concerned neighbor who caught them red-handed
Afolabi stated that the suspect was arrested after a tip-off by a concerned neighbour who allegedly caught them in the act.
He noted that the suspect confessed to have committed the crime, saying;
He however stated that the minor consented to the affair since it was not only one time he had carnal knowledge of the minor.
The NSCDC spokesman said the suspect would be charged after the completion of investigation.
