Andy Murray To Miss Dubai Tennis Championships After Wife, Kim Sears Gives Birth To Fourth Child
Andy Murray has welcomed his fourth child with his wife, Kim Sears and will therefore not play in next week’s Dubai Tennis Championships.
Currently ranked 116 in the world, Murray will miss Dubai Tennis Championships and is set to travel to travel to United states early next week to prepare for Miami Open.
He married Sears, who was his longtime girlfriend, in April 2015 in his hometown Dunblane in Scotland.
The couples exchanged their vows at the 12th century cathedral, out of the sight of media and well-wishers.
Murray is still on a comeback trail following hip surgery two years ago, felt he would not have had enough preparation time for the tournament at Dubai.
The 33-year-old will travel to United States instead to prepare for Miami Open, which begins in a fortnight.
Murray last played at AMRO World Tennis Tournament in Rotterderm, winning his opening match against Robin Haase. He however lost to world number eight, Andrey Rublev in last Wednesday in a 7-5, 6-2.
Murray has had injury problems of late. He withdrew from his second ATP event in 2020 in Cologne due to a persistent injury pelvic problem. He also tested positive for coronavirus in January 2021, which made him miss the first glam slam of the year Australian Open.
At a press conference in January 2019 ahead of Australian Open, Murray broke down and admitted the extent of his hip problems.
His last grand slam appearance was in September 2020 in US Open, where he was knocked out in the second-round to Felix Auger- Aliassime.
