DJ Cuppy Withdraws Libel Lawsuit Against Davido’s Aide, Isreal Afeare

Singer and Disc Jockey, DJ Cuppy has directed her lawyers to withdraw her libel lawsuit against Davido’s personal logistics manager, Israel Afeare.

In February, DJ Cuppy threatened to sue Isreal Afeare for making baseless allegations against her via his Instagrma page.

It would be recalled that Afeare in a since-deleted post alleged that despite the commercial success of 2019 hit song, Gelato by the two artists, the Disc Jockey did not compensate Zlatan.

He also claimed that Cuppy took the singer to Abuja for her fund raising event where she made billions of Naira but refused to remunerate Zlatan.

Afeare said this was the reason for the fallout between Zlatan and DJ Cuppy, while reacting to why the singer blocked the billionaire’s daughter on social media platforms.

In response to his allegations, DJ Cuppy said she did not breach any contractual agreement regarding the song Gelato, which she made with Zlatan Ibile. She went ahead and threatened to sue him for libel and defamation.

True to her threat, Cuppy’s lawyers served Davido’s aide a legal notice dated February 10, 2021, where they stated that there was no contractual breach between both singers.

Cuppy also demanded a public apology from him over his claim that Zlatan didn’t make any money from their hit song, Gelato.

In addition, Cuppy demanded a withdrawal of his statement which will be publicly shared, and a letter of undertaking to cease and desist from publishing these allegations or similar allegations.

The legal notice stated that further actions will be taking against him if he fails to respond within seven days of receiving the notice.

Afeare at first stood his ground, but he later apologised for the allegation, which has now prompted the billionaire’s daughter to withdraw her suit against Afeare.

Announcing her latest decision via her Twitter page on Friday, DJ Cuppy said she will no longer proceed with the lawsuit and have already instructed her lawyers to do same.

She then advised the public to learn from her actions and ensure they gathered enough evidence before voicing out their opinions on issues.
