Former Super Eagles Striker, Barnabas Imenger Is DeadFormer Super Eagles striker and manager of Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) club, Lobi StarsBarnabas Imenger has passed away on Sunday night, March 21.

His death was confirmed by Lobi Stars’ Media Officer, Austin Tyowua on Monday, adding that Imenger passed away at National Hospital in Abuja on Monday morning, after battling a protracted illness.

Imenger was reportedly on life support at Federal Medical Centre, Makurdi, Benue State, before he was referred to National Hospital.

Tyowua added;

Quite unfortunate that we lost a rare gem. It’s a great loss to Nigerian football. May his soul Rest In Peace.

He was part of the Super Eagles in the mid-90s and was part of the team that played at 1995 FIFA Confederations Cup (King Fahd Cup) in Saudi Arabia.

Imengermade a name for himself by playing for BBL Hawks Makurdi, BCC Lions Gboko, El-Kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri and a number of clubs in Egypt and Saudi Arabia.

He is the only former international whose son has played for Super Eagles. Barnabas Nanen Imenger jnr made his debut for Super Eagles in 2012 in the international friendly match with Angola in Abuja.
