Grammy: He Deserves More – Tacha Replies People Criticising Gov Wike For Gifting Burna Boy Land And N10m Each To Him, Other ArtistesBig Brother Naija former housemate, Anita Natacha Akide, known as Tacha, has slammed people criticising Rivers state Governor for gifting Burna Boy a land and N10m to him and each artistes that performed at a function in honour of the Grammy-award winner.

On Saturday, Rivers state government organised homecoming party to celebrate Burna Boy after he broke record at this year’s Grammy by becoming the first Nigerian-based artiste to independently win athe award.

He won the gramophone under the category “Best Global Music Album” for his 2020 album ‘Twice as Tall’.

During the celebration party of the Port-Harcourt-born music star, Governor Nyesom Wike promised to give Burna Boy a land and N10m to help build the property.

In addition, the Governor also promised N10 million each artistes who performed at Burna Boy’s homecoming concert.

However, the Governor’s action has since sparked public outrage on social media, as Nigerians slammed the Governor for spending public money on less important things, while refusing to pay salaries of government workers. 

Defending Burna Boy and Governor Wike, Tacha who is a known Burna Boy fan, slammed people are for criticizing her state Governor.

She said although the governor hasn’t done much for Rivers state, he is right to honour Burna Boy, who is an indigene of the state.

According to her, entertainment industry in the state and particularly in Port Harcourt is ‘dead’, adding that Wike’s action was to encourage Burna Boy and other artistes in the state.

Speaking in a video shared via her Twitter page on Sunday afternoon, Tacha also said Burna Boy deserves much more than the state government gave.

She expressed that the music star should have a public holiday in his honour and that a town should be name after him for winning the Grammy.

In follow up tweets, she emphasised her initial view, saying many people are not aware of the intense level of work entertainers put into their craft to be recognised.
