Kylie Jenner responds to backlash after asking fans to donate to injured makeup artist’s GoFundMe
Kylie Jenner has responded to backlash that came her way over the weekend after she called on fans to donate money to a celebrity makeup artist, Samuel Rauda, who was recently involved in a fatal car crash.
Rauda was involved in a bad car crash that reportedly necessitated brain surgery and his family set up the online fundraiser to cater for his medical bills.

Unknown to many, the initial goal of the campaign was $10,000 and $6,000 was already donated. The 23-year-old star added $5,000, bringing the total donation over the original benchmark. Following this, the campaign goal ballooned to over $100,000 after Jenner’s support became public.
However, many social media users, who were only aware of the update goal, criticised her for asking fans to support a crowdfunding campaign for the injured makeup artist, while she only donated $5,000 out of the publicised $100,000 goal, despite her wealthy status.
Reacting to the backlash, the makeup mogul — who last year was heralded as the youngest billionaire ever before the moniker was swiftly removed by Forbes — took to her Instagram Story on Monday to dispel any notion that she was pressing her fans to pay for makeup artist Samuel Rauda’s emergency surgeries.
Jenner at first defend herself, clarifying that Rauda isn’t her makeup artist and that they don’t have a personal relationship anymore.
The mother of one wrote;
I feel it’s important for me to clear up this false narrative that I’ve asked fans for money and am not paying for my makeup artist’s medical bills. Sam isn’t my makeup artist and unfortunately we don’t have a personal relationship anymore but I have worked with him a few years ago and think he’s the sweetest.
Addressing her donation, the reality star said she felt “compelled” to pitch in out of her good nature after learning about Rauda’s accident through her current makeup artist, Ariel Tejada.
Just as MDB earlier reported, she further explained that;
They had already raised $6K so I put in $5K to reach their original goal and thought I’d post on my stories to gain more awareness if anyone felt so compelled to share or donate.
Jenner added that Sam’s family reached out to her through Ariel and they are “very appreciative of all the donations, prayers and love towards Sam”.
The fund’s new goal of $120,000 is close to being reached as the donations’ total, as at Monday evening, was close to $100,000.
