Ondo state police command have arrested a man simply identified as Gbenro for strangling his wife in her sleep as their 5-year-old daughter watched in horror.
Their daughter, Fayoke, who witnessed the incident, narrated how her father killed her mother.
The incident was said to have happened in the early hours of today, March 23 at Salvation Army Street, Ojomu in Akure, the capital of Ondo state.
Fayoke said she saw her father strangling her mother when she got up to ease herself but couldn’t do anything because her father threatened to kill her, TheNation reports.
It was Fayoke’s cry of horror that attracted neighbours, who arrived to find her mother, Wayesola had died.
Neighbours immediately locked the man indoors to stop him from escaping, then they called the deceased’s brother.
Ondo Police spokesperson, ASP Tee- Leo Ikoro, said the matter has been transferred to the state CID for further investigation.
