In an explosive television interview which will rock the British monarchy, Duke of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, have accused the royal family of worrying about how dark their son’s skin would be, even before he was born.
To no one’s surprise, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey is setting the internet ablaze already.
One of the most damning details is that an unnamed person in the royals’ inner circle expressed concern around their son, Archie’s skin colour.

The Duchess of Sussex, who is a biracial Black woman, has been the target of much racist coverage by the British press.
Meghan claimed the Royal Family did not want her son to be a prince or offer him security.
When asked why by Winfrey, she said it had to do with how dark his skin might be when he’s born. To echo Winfrey’s shocked reaction, she said “What?”
Meghan said the concerns were relayed to Harry but declined to name the member of the family because it “would be very damaging to them”.

When Winfrey asked whether there were concerns that her child would be “too brown” and that would be a problem, Meghan told her: “If that is the assumption you are making, that is a pretty safe one.”
Meghan added;
That was relayed to me from Harry, those were conversations the family had with him, and I think it was really hard to be able to see those as compartmentalised conversations.

On his part, Harry said it “hurt” that his family did not speak out against articles “with colonial undertones” written about his wife.
Harry also lashed out at his family for failing to publicly defend Meghan against what he said was racist coverage of his new wife in British tabloid media.

Over 70 female members of Parliament called out the colonial undertones of articles written about Meghan, but nobody in my family said anything over the course of three years.
Harry suggested the family did not speak out because they were worried about losing support from the press.
When asked about the conversation over Archie’s skin tone, Harry said he would never disclose the details.
He stated;
At the time it was awkward. I was a bit shocked. There were some real, obvious signs before our marriage that this was going to be hard.
