Teenager Certified Dead Wakes Up Just Before His Organs Were To be RemovedA teenage boy ‘certified dead‘ after being hit by a van have miraculously began breathing again just hours before his life support was set to be switched off and organs removed for donation.

Grieving family members were told Lewis Roberts, 18, was brain dead four days after the crash in Leek, Staffordshire in England, according to StokeonTrentLive.

Life support for Roberts was to be turned off and his relatives agreed for his organs to be donated to help save other lives.

Fortunately, this bought the teen extra time on the life support machine as they needed it on until they could go in for surgery to remove his organs.

Miraculously, he began to breathe hours before the surgery to remove his organs.

Now, his family have set up a fundraising page asking people to buy a ‘Pint for Lewis‘, to help him with his recovery and anything else that might arise as a result of his injuries.

The fundraising page reads;

On March 13, Lewis suffered catastrophic head injuries when he was struck by a van in his hometown of Leek and was flown to hospital where he underwent emergency surgery.

Four days later, the doctors broke the news to our family that nothing more could be done as he had unfortunately suffered a ‘brain stem death’ and sadly passed away.

After saying our goodbyes to Lewis, close family bravely agreed for his organs to be donated to help the lives of seven other people.

This bought Lewis extra time before his life support machine was turned off. Just hours before Lewis’ surgery, he began to breathe again on his own. A miracle any family could wish for after being told he had zero chance of pulling through.

It continues;

After this Lewis has carried on progressing. He has started to react to pain tests, moving his limbs on his own, and also moving his head from side to side, blinking and also moving his mouth. Every day, this boy is getting stronger.

Many people have asked to send money for a pint for Lewis. Any money that is sent will be for Lewis when he is home and back on his feet.

We would just like to say, as a family, thank you so much and we are very grateful for everyone’s prayers and best wishes for Lewis.

So far, more than £1,680 (N878,956) has been raised for Lewis through the GoFundMe account set up for him.

His remarkable upturn in health occurred less than two weeks after he was struck by the vehicle. He appeared to have lost his battle for his life at Stoke University Hospital before he rallied strongly.

His sister, 28-year-old Jade Roberts, told Stoke Sentinel;

Thank you so, so much to every single one of you who has donated. We cannot wait for him to wake up and see it.
