Usage Of ‘BIAFRAN Boys’ In CCT Chairman’s Statement After Being Caught On Camera Assaulting Security Guard Sparks Outrage
Usage of “BIAFRAN Boys” in the statement issued by chairman of Code of Conduct Tribunal, Danladi Umar, after being caught on camera physically assaulting a security guard at a plaza in Abuja, has sparked outrage on social media platform, Twitter.
In the viral video, the CCT chairman launched a barrage of attacks on the young man and violently kicked him before he was restrained by the crowd, including police officers attached to him. He was then forced into his vehicle by the police officers.
Eyewitnesses say the guard had reached out to Umar to park his car properly at the plaza before the assault.
As seen in the video, the crowd at the plaza attacked the CCT chairman in return for his action against the security guard by breaking his car’s windscreen.
Following this, the guard was taken into custody following a complaint by Umar at Maitama Police Station under Federal Capital Territory Police Command.
However, a lawyer named Ihensekhien Samuel reportedly secured the release of the guard on bail.
Speaking about the incident in a grammatical error-filled statement signed by his spokesman, Ibraheem Al-Hassan, Umar stated that the crowd at the plaza gathered at the scene of the assault consisted of “BIAFRAN boys.”
The statement reads;
Press Statement from the Code of Conduct Bureau
Our attention was drawn on a report from some online publication with a video cliff suggesting Hon Chairman, Justice Danladi Y. Umar assaulted a Security Guard at Banex Plaza.
To start with, the said plaza has been his usual place of visits for the past 18 years for shopping and repairs of his phones, and in all these periods there have never been any time he had any turmoil with anybody.
Unfortunately, yesterday’s altercations started over a packing lot, which Chairman met vacant and it was directly opposite a shop he want to make a purchase and to fixe his phone, when the young Security guard sighted him, he ordered that Chairman should not pack his car in that particular empty space, but Chairman asked why, the security guard couldn’t convinced chairman, though Chairman didn’t identify himself, because to him is needless is needless and is a place he visited often, but the boy was rode in his approached and threaten to deal with Chairman if he refuse to leave the scene.
Again, if Chairman had went there to cause trouble or intimidate some one, as suggested in the report, he would have gone there in his full official paraphernalia, but he went there alone with his younger brother.
The Police men seen in the video cliff were not the Chairman’s police team, they were policemen operating around the plaza whom at first The Police men seen in the video cliff were not the Chairman’s police team, they were policemen operating around the plaza whom at first instance intervened before the arrival of police team from Maitama Police station. As the few policemen in the complex were apparently overwhelmed by the mobs, consisting of BIAFRAN boys throwing matches and shape object to his car, which led to deep cut and dislocation in one of his finger, causing damage to his car, smashing his windscreen.
At a point he attempted to leave the scene, these same miscreants, BIAFRAN boy ordered for the closure of the gate thereby assaulting him before the arrival of police team from Maitama police station.
An incident like this when it happened, sympathy usually goes to the low personalities. Though is infortunate as I said, it ought not to have happened.

However, the statement since its release has sparked outrage among many Nigerians, especially Easterners, who accused Umar of being a bigot by labelling of those who gathered at the plaza as Biafran boys.
Biafra, officially the Republic of Biafra, was a secessionist state in Nigeria that existed from May 1967 to January 1970 during the Civil War. Its territory consisted of the Eastern Region of Nigeria and was inhabited principally by Igbo (Ibo) people.
Separatist leader, Nnamdi Kanu and some Easterners are still calling for the independence of the proscribed group.

They refer to certain citizens as “Biafran boys” in their heads and in their closets but they publicly shove down “one nigeria” and “detribalized” everyone else’s throats..
Then one day, they stopped caring. No more hiding in closets. The bigotry is documented in official comms

There is a trending video of the Chairman of the Code Of Conduct Tribunal CCT, Danladi Umar, assaulting a Security Guard.
As if that wasn’t UGLY enough, the Chairman tried to stoke “ethic tensions” with this, by ethic profiling the incident as “Danladi Umar Vs Biafran Boys.”🤮👎 pic.twitter.com/Egff5XUFud

Danladi Umar, chairman of the Code of Conduct Tribunal was caught on video physically assaulting a security man at Banex Plaza in Abuja saying the guard was “rude”. Then he issues a statement condemning Biafran boys. No decorum, totally unacceptable, he must be sacked.

For optics you may choose to be a detribalized Nigeria but to northerners, we are all Biafran boys.
It’s totally your choice if you still want to be a detribalized Nigerian but when push comes to shove, the name will be the same.

The word “BIAFRAN Boys” from an Official of Fed Rep of Nigeria has proven my argument that Igbo people have been at war with Nigeria for 54years now.
Nigeria is still fighting Biafrans till today and tomorrow.
All the detribalised Igbos but Okpo, you’ve been put in ur place.
