DMX's Family Holds Prayer Vigil For Hospitalised Rapper Outside New York HospitalFamily of famed rapper, DMX have held a vigil outside a New York hospital where the 50-year-old is hospitalised after suffering a heart attack possibly triggered by drug overdose.

The artist’s family, friends and fans gathered together outside White Plains Hospital, and held prayers for his health and played his music in his honour.

A statement released by the family of the rapper — whose real name is Earl Simmons — announced the vigil over the weekend, and hundreds showed up to pay their respects.

Among those in attendance at the vigil are his fiancee, Desiree, and their 4-year-old son, Exodus, according to TMZ.

The rapper was hospitalised on Friday after suffering a heart attack and is now “facing serious health issues,” his family said.

There are reports he has “some brain activity” and is in a “vegetative state” and doctors have cautioned he may not make it.

A source close to the 50-year-old actor told ET that medical staff “tried to revive him twice in the house, and revived him again in the hospital” but there were no change in his condition, as at Monday.

This is a very difficult time for the family,” a source says, adding that DMX had recently relapsed with his drug addiction and had also suffered from COVID-19. “They are standing by his bedside, holding his hand and praying. They are really in prayer mode.”

The crowd that attended the vigil, joined in prayers, chanted “DMX!” and crossed their arms in the shape of an X, like he often does during his performances. Many were seen crying while song of the rapper was played.

Since his hospitalisation, friends, fans and fellow musicians have shared their love and concern for the rapper via their social media platforms.
