Policeman Caught On Camera Demanding Bribe From Spanish Biker On Arrival In Nigeria (Video)
An officer of Nigerian Police Force has been caught on camera demanding bribe from from a Spanish bike rider upon his arrival in the country.
In the video which has gone viral on social media, the policeman while at a checkpoint alongside other officers, flagged down the biker as he approached.
The rider, who recorded the incident with a body camera, introduced himself to the policeman, saying he arrived in the country from Spain, after which the officer went ahead to say; “what did you bring for us?” – a subtle way of demanding for bribe.
Following this, there was a back and forth interaction as the Spanish man said he has no cash on him but the policeman insisted he must give him something.
The Spaniard revealed that he doesn’t have Nigerian currency but foreign currency, adding that he was also with his credit card, hoping to use Automated Teller Machine (ATM) to withdraw cash. However, the officer still insisted he needed to drop something for the ‘boys’.
The video was shared by Abubakar Suleiman, Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Sterling Bank, via his Twitter page on Saturday.
The officer has been heavily criticised and condemned by many Nigerians on Twitter, saying he is one of those giving the nation a bad image.
