Rap Icon Shock G, Famous For Work With Tupac Shakur, Found Dead At 57
Rap icon and producer, Gregory Jacobs, popularly known as ‘Shock G’ of hip-hop crew Digital Underground, has died at 57.
Shock G is famous for Digital Underground’s hit song “The Humpty Dance” and his work with Tupac Shakur.
The news was first announced by his Digital Underground bandmate, Chopmaster J, who posted Thursday evening on Instagram.

He wrote;

Shock G’s father, Edward Racker, later confirmed the news to TMZ, saying the rapper was found dead Thursday in a hotel room in Tampa, Florida.
No cause of death was revealed, but Racker said there were no signs of trauma and that authorities will conduct an autopsy.
Racker further revealed that authorities have begun investigations into circumstances that led to his death.
According to him, an autopsy will also be conducted to determine what led to his sudden demise.
Shock G co-founded Digital Underground music group in 1987 with Chopmaster J and Kenny K. Their biggest hit was 1989’s “The Humpty Dance” song and dance, which saw Shock G assume his alter ego, Humpty Hump.
He also co-wrote LL Cool J’s “Mama Said Knock You Out,” which won a Grammy in 1992, as well as 2Pac’s breakthrough hit in 1993, “I Get Around”, and Shock G went on to co-produce 2Pac’s debut album, 2Pacalypse Now, in 1991.
According to reports, Shock G helped introduce Tupac to the music world and he was a member of Digital Underground when he appeared on the group’s 1991 song and music video, “Same Song,” for his first published work.
In addition to his work with 2Pac, Shock G produced songs for Dr. Dre, Prince and KRS-One and other well known artists.
