NDLEA Arrests Rapper, CDQ Over Alleged Possession Of Drugs

Nigerian Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) says it arrested Sodiq Yesufu, indigenous hip-hop rapper better known as CDQ, over alleged possession of cannabis at his home in Lagos state.

According to ThePUNCH, Femi Babafemi, NDLEA’s director of media and advocacy, said the musician was arrested at his Lekki residence on Wednesday night following an intelligence report made available to the agency.

He stated that some substance known as ‘loud’ ― a cannabis variant ― was found in the rapper’s house.

The agency’s spokesperson disclosed that the rapper had already been granted bail but is still under investigation, noting that the outcome of the probe would determine if he would be charged to court or not.

Babafemi stated;

Yes, CDQ was arrested in his house at Lekki for being in possession of cannabis. He was arrested based on intelligence. As of last night, he was granted administrative bail, but he is expected back into custody today because it is an ongoing investigation.

He added that the ‘Vaseline‘ crooner also revealed the names of other artistes who allegedly used the substance.

NDLEA’s spokesperson said;

Some substances were found and he mentioned some names of some other big artistes. So, it is an ongoing investigation.

The outcome of the investigation would determine what would happen. There are cases whereby the investigation shows some sufficient infractions, and then the case will go to court.

There are other cases whereby if the quantity is insignificant, we will bring him in for counselling and possible rehabilitation. Those are likely scenarios that will happen.

Following his arrest and bail, CDQ took to his social media pages to allege attempts by some individuals to set him up.

In a mixture of English and Yoruba, the rapper said;

No sleep for the wicked iyalaya yin o ni sun for this Lagos… They tried to set me up today but Olohun wa (there is God).

He added;

I have a lot to talk about but lemme get over the shock first…
