SAG Awards 2021: Late Chadwick Boseman And Viola Davis Make HistoryAmerican actors, Viola Davis and late Chadwick Boseman have on Sunday, April 14 made history at 27th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards, which honours some of the best performances in movies and television.

The event featured the first ever presentation of SAG awards to people of color in all four top big screen acting categories.

Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom” stars, Viola Davis and the late Chadwick Boseman took top film acting honors — and made history as the first lead black film actors to do so in the same year in the process.

Boseman died on August 18, 2020, of cancer at the age of 43. His death at such a young age shocked Hollywood, coming as the actor had summited the A-list with his performance in the Marvel box office smash “Black Panther.”

Meanwhile, supporting actors, Yuh-Jung Youn of “Minari” and Daniel Kaluuya of “Judas and the Black Messiah” furthered this historic moment with wins in their big screen categories.

The star-studded guest list watched on virtually in Zoom-style fashion from their homes due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Schitt’s Creek, The Crown, and Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom were the big winners of the 2021 Screen Actors Guild Awards, with all three projects taking home two trophies each.
