According to a source who spoke to TheSun;

The source added;

Mark’s family are of course very upset by his passing. He always hoped things would work out with Adele, but it remained acrimonious to the end. He made a few attempts to make things right, but clearly it had been too long.

The 33-year-old British singer has been open about her fractured relationship with her father, after he left her mum Penny Adkins, when the singer was just three years old.

In one interview, the musician said: ‘I don’t hate him — he’s my dad.’

In 2011, Mark said he had been a “rotten father” to the Set Fire To The Rain hitmaker.

He discussed his problem with alcoholism and their estranged relationship, adding;

I was deeply ashamed of what I’d become and I knew the kindest thing I could do for Adele was to make sure she never saw me in that state.

Following his interview with The Sun, the singer said she had no interest in speaking to him again.

In 2012, Evans said he had ‘so much regret’ that he ‘wasn’t a better father’ to the singer.

I let her down badly, and I wish I could turn the clock back and do things differently,’ he told the Daily Mail.

Evans when he revealed his health condition in 2013 feared he wouldn’t get to meet his grandson, Adele’s son Angelo who she shares with ex-husband Simon Konecki.

In a former interview with the publication, Evans admitted;

I was a rotten father at a time when she really needed me. I was putting away two litres of vodka and seven or eight pints of Stella every day. I drank like that for three years. God only knows how I survived it.

He added;

I was deeply ashamed of what I’d become and I knew the kindest thing I could do for Adele was to make sure she never saw me in that state.

When Adele welcomed her first child, Evans realised how “out of the picture” he was.

He explained;

I would have loved so much to have been able to hold her in my arms and tell her how happy I was for her. I want more than anything to be part of her life again and to be a big part in my little grandson or granddaughter’s life. I’m having to face up to the fact that I may never get to know my grandchildren and it is breaking my heart.

He later claimed that they rekindled their relationship during the making of Adele’s third studio album, 25, which Adele went on to deny.

Adele was, as at the time of filing this report, yet to make a statement about her father’s reported death.
